While you may be anxious, try not to show your dog that you are worried as he may pick up on it and become nervous himself. Give him reassurance and talk to him during the process to help him relax. Take your time and you may find that it actually becomes enjoyable for the two of you after a few times.
When it comes to bathing your dog, prepare to get wet. It can be very fun but make sure you have plenty of towels for the inevitable shake-down. Some dogs may be nervous of the water in their eyes and also the hair dryer when they are out of the bath. Be aware of this and give them reassurance and treats for good behaviour. They will gradually learn that not only is there nothing to be afraid of, but that they also get rewarded for being patient.
