How Do I Stop My Cat Being Attacked By A Neighbours Cat?
Our cat Maisy is a very petite female cat that is constantly being attacked by this very large black and white tom cat called 'Bandit'.
In truth Bandit was there first and lived in the house next door long before we moved in so perhaps quite rightly considers to own the territory surrounding our gardens. However the attacks seem to have become more frequent and ferocious of late and its very difficult to ignore this when you know that your pet is being constantly attacked.
I have tried talking to the neighbours but they tell me what a placid and loving cat Bandit is and perhaps don't see the aggressive bullying side of his nature although they did admit to hearing the fighting and screams in the middle of the night. On 3 occasions now Bandit has smashed his way through my Staywell cat flaps and I have had to replace the whole flap at some cost which I was not too happy about and I have found him cornering my cat in the utility.
I have now tried everything shouting and screaming at him, firing water pistols and throwing buckets of water at him but all without success. To at least stop him from entering our house I fitted a Pet Porte microchip cat flap which only lets your microchipped cat flap in and this so far has kept Bandit out but i have heard the thud as he has crashed into this on several occasions as he has tailgated our Maisy.
Surely it is only a matter of time before this too breaks as his chasing and aggression seems to escalate, what I really need to do is find a way of preventing him from entering the garden if possible. I have heard that if you spread some lion dung around the perimeter of your garden that this can help although I haven't a clue where to get this from and the nearest zoo is a long way away in Chester!
I know that there a number of companies that sell a range of cat fencing but this seems like a very costly exercise and would be difficult to set up due to the size and layout of the garden, I have read that you can fit automatic sprinklers with motion detectors but surely these would also be set off by Maisy too.
I am really at my wits end and am at a loss as how to stop these attacks on our cat. If anyone can suggest a solution or something that we can try then Id love to hear from you.
