In animal shelters across the globe it is a well known fact that black dogs are more difficult to re-home than other colours. Many people overlook black dogs in favour of the lighter coloured dogs therefore increasing their chance that a black dog will stay in a dog shelter for longer periods than other colour dogs and also unfortunately increasing their risk of being put to sleep.
Maybe its the publics perceived idea that a black dog is a common dog, or possibly its due to the lack of contrast in a a dog that is monotone in colour and therefore more difficult to see their facial features. Whatever the reason it is a sad fact and these black dogs need more help and assistance to promote them over different coloured dogs. As a nation of dog lovers we strongly recommend that if you are looking for a new puppy that you give a black dog a chance.
