Andy Murray’s Border Terriers are competitive too

It would seem that Andy Murray is not the only one in his home with a competitive streak, as a picture published this week reveals his two Border Terriers arguing over one of his socks.

The US Open Champion posted the picture of Rusty and Maggie May tussling it out over the sock on Facebook and within hours the picture had been liked by over 10,600 people. Murray wrote “Maggie and Rusty fighting over one of my socks, haha. They could have had one each if they’d only asked.”

After the adorable game of tug-o-war, it looked as if Andy might have needed to send these two mischief makers to their dog kennels to calm down.

This isn’t the first time Andy’s dogs have been in the limelight. According to dailymail.co.uk, the two pups shot to fame after he posted a picture of them on Twitter wearing his gold medal from London 2012.

In an interview posted on the Association of Tennis Professionals website, Murray said that having dogs had brought him closer to his girlfriend, Kim Sears.

“I think for a relationship, it’s nice to have something to do together when you come home,” the Scotsman said.

“It’s not the same as having a kid, as there’s obviously a lot less maintenance. But I still love going back to be with them. I think they make me and my girlfriend very happy,” he added.

One fan commented on facebook.com: “I always say you judge a person by the way they treat animals – you are truly awesome Andy”.
