Cats enter international beauty contest
Over 200 cats have entered an international cat beauty contest in Romania. The annual competition judges the cats solely on their appearance, according to dailymail.co.uk.
There was a mixture of different breeds entering the competition, with the Canadian Sphynx cats making a lot of appearances. The hairless breed featured heavily in the competition, despite having a reputation for being ugly, with its hairless body and oversized ears and eyes. While they might not be deemed the most attractive cats in the show, they can at least rest assured their hair won’t get ruffled when running through their cat flaps.
Some cats were going for the cute factor, with a white British Shorthair kitten stealing the show as she played with a toy.
Perhaps not quite the feline equivalent of Crufts yet, the competition obviously proved popular with cat owners from around the world. Independent.co.uk showed a photograph of one owner holding her Norwegian Forest cat out to show off the impressive length of the animal. The thick fur just added inches to the huge cat, who sat elegantly in its owners arms.
The personalities and behaviours of the cats weren’t taken into account in the competition, with the judging being based solely on beauty.
