Cesar Milan is a self taught professional dog whisperer who reached fame via his US show titled The Dog Whisperer. He claims his methods are fair to the dogs and also that they work. People have been reported to pay up to a six figure sum for him to treat their dogs. Some people are great fans of Cesar and recognise how well his methods works however others think it is cruelty to animals. He recently appeared on the Alan Titchmarsh show which has sparked a large amount of controversy. Before the show people were campaigning for the show to be cancelled and Cesar not to get shown on UK television however it went ahead and caused even more controversy than first anticipated. Alan Titchmarsh seemed to interview Cesar with several accusations rather than questions and for someone who knows little about dogs themselves he had a lot to say.

As stated by the dailymail Alan Titchmarsh said, ‘You know, this is pretty barbaric treatment. What’s your reasoning for treating dogs like this?’ Throughout the interview Cesar Milan kept calm and fought his corner stating that the way he trains his dogs is not cruel, and his methods are only to snap the dogs out of the mind set they are in. Cesar Milan is in favour of training dog owners to become a pack leader with the proof that his way works and several celebrities are on his long list of customers such as Scarlett Johansson and Oprah Winfrey.

After the show, the public caused uproar on the way Cesar Milan had been treated by Alan Titchmarsh rather than what he had to say which was what everyone was expecting. So is the way Cesar trains dog ‘totally unacceptable’ as Alan quoted, or was the way Alan treated Cesar totally unacceptable? We would love to hear your views and opinion on this. What do you think?
