Greyhound Gap in desperate plea for funds
We are always looking to help out charities in any way possible, especially those local to us so we are saddened to hear about the financial difficulties in which Greyhound Gap find themselves. This is the first time the self funded shelter finds them in financial struggle and put this down to the economy at present.
The charity has previously always ensured they do not commit to more than they know they can handle and have always had money put to one side throughout the summer months from fundraising activities to help with the extra costs in the winter however this year they have been unfortunate and the money they have has reached an all time low.
Greyhound Gap is totally self funded charity that can house up to 80-100 dogs at any one time and prides themselves in taking in more of the dogs that other charities and shelters don’t, the dogs that are more difficult to re home due to ongoing health or behavioural problems.
Greyhound Gap has a huge kennelling bill of £5,000 per month which increases by £600 per month during the winter months as extra heating and lighting is required. With the summer fundraising funds running out they have been left panicking, currently working on some emergency fundraisers to see them through the winter months however if you believe you can help in any way at all, please contact them. This may be a donation of money or your time or even a fundraising idea – all help is welcomed.
This is unfortunate to happen during the cold winter months however the charity will ensure no dog goes without heating this Christmas. Greyhound gap aim to keep 10 emergency spaces for dogs that see themselves homeless at Christmas however this year it just isn’t possible and unfortunately these dogs may have to be euthanized.
Please spread the word and see if you can help with a donation to Greyhound Gap, lets help this highly deserved charity.
