Kitten Mittens launched to protect curious moggies
Curious kitties now won’t get burnt paws thanks to new heatproof ‘Kitten Mittens’, according to huffingtonpost.co.uk.
The bespoke shoes have been created in order to protect exploring moggies from getting hurt when clambering over hot surfaces. The product comes after a survey by takeaway service Just Eat found nearly half (43 per cent) of all cat owners considered kitchens to be a dangerous place for their cats.
The research questioned 2,000 pet owners from its Facebook page as part of National Pet Month. It asked owners the ten most dangerous activities to cats in a kitchen. Top answers included spilling boiling water, getting trampled underfoot, exposure to a hot oven and falling on knives.
Cat owner Jackie Cable, 35, purchased a pair of the special boots for her cat Mischief to go alongside more standard accessories such as cat flaps. She told metro.co.uk: “My cat means the world to me, but cooking anything when he is around is a nightmare. He gets under your feet when he senses food is being prepared and several times Mischief has hopped up onto the ceramic cooking plate and burnt his paws.”
However the owner said she can relax in the kitchen now, thanks to the new boots.
