Owner spends £1,800 on house replica for dog Wellington
Most dogs might think themselves lucky if they are treated to a luxury dog bed, however two-year-old St Bernard Wellington has had his own miniature house created for him by owner Julian Kite.
Mr Kite, 37, from Swadlincote in Derbyshire, has spent £1,800 on creating the pooch a kennel which is an exact replica of his family home, complete with skirting boards, a slate roof, a gravel drive and patio stepping stones.
The kennel, which is 6.5 foot tall, even features carpets, working lights, insulated walls and ceramic statues, just like Mr Kite’s very own three-bedroom, detached house, according to express.co.uk.
The project, which took four days to complete, has paid off however, after it won Mr Kite £1000 prize in a national competition.
Talking about his win, the 37-year-old told dailymail.co.uk: “Designing and building Wellington’s house has been a hobby, so being rewarded in such a way is truly brilliant.”
However, the former builder said he wasn’t totally satisfied with the kennel yet, commenting: “It’s just the beginning though, by the time I’ve finished with his kennel, I’ll probably want to live in there myself.”
Mr Kite said he started making bespoke luxury kennels after he was made redundant from the construction industry a few years ago.
