Petlog highlights micro chipping awareness
Petlog has announced that the UK has a strong divide of which pet they love the most. People from the south are bigger cat lovers whilst people from the north are bigger dog lovers. Research produced in June 2013 clearly shows that 65% of northern people are more likely to own a dog than the national average of 53% and 60% of southern people are most likely to own a cat compared to the national average of 54%.
Petlog run national Micro chipping month every year to raise awareness of the importance of micro chipping pets and to remind owners of the importance to keep all details up to date. After performing surveys throughout the UK, it is evident that in the North East only half the pets are micro chipped whilst pet owners in London and Ireland had the lowest understand of how pet micro chipping works.
These surveys help Petlog know where to raise awareness and by working with the vets in that area explain the benefits of micro chipping your pet. Celia Walsom, Petlog executive, said: “The survey identified areas of the country that are most knowledgeable about micro chipping, and where there is a lack of awareness and knowledge, and now we need to see how we can improve this.
With micro chipping for dogs soon becoming compulsory within the UK it is important that Petlog work to increase people’s awareness and explain the benefits to both owner and pet of using their service.
